Busy, Busy, Busy!

It’s been a such busy fortnight! It all started with 2 days working with Cathy Burke and Elizabeth Sanderson from The Hunger Project, helping them put together a presentation to raise money for this incredible cause to end worldwide hunger.

The Hunger ProjectI have to say . . . even though I was there to help these were 2 of the most inspiring days of my life!  While my time was a gift to The Hunger Project, I feel as though I ended up getting the better deal.  Being able to spend 2 days with such amazing women who are up for this huge, huge mission was an absolute honour.  I’m pleased to say this is an organisation we are going to support and be much more fully involved in the future and it starts right now with “Presentation Profits Intensive”.  For the first ever time, a percentage of each ticket sold will go straight to The Hunger Project.

Also, in this past couple of weeks we had out last ever MDM event where we launched a brand new event called ‘Seminar Business School.’  I’ll tell you more about this at our upcoming events but what I can say now is that it will be a super intensive event on the business of seminars. Yay!

Colleen's WeddingOn a more personal level, one of the most exciting events from the past 2 weeks has been the surprise wedding of our Australian Business Development Manager, Colleen and her fiancé, Nick!  Greg and I went to what we thought was her engagement party  . . . only to find out it was her actual wedding!  This was the second Shift wedding of the year and our heartfelt congratulations goes out to Mr and Mrs Woodstock.

Love Sex Business: Interview with Dr Joanna Martin and Greg Elliott

Working with your husband or wife is not an easy thing. Not only do you share your meals, your holidays and your bed… but you’re also expected to be not merely civil, but also co-operative and efficient during working hours as you strive to grow a business together.

Greg and I have been working together now for 3 years on your business, Shift Speaker Training. And as a celebration of our recently getting married I thought I’d share this great interview we did together with Shelley Wineberg of www.lovesexandbusiness.com

I’m interested in your thoughts. How do you find working with your husband or wife? Is this something you would be interested in finding out more about?

Do let me know in the comments!

Here’s the interview.  Right click on the link if you’d like to download it onto your computer to listen to later.

Gran’s 90th & Merry Christmas!

At my Business Planning events I do a visualisation process where I have people imagine their 90th birthday party… who is there, what they’ve achieved and what they are being celebrated for.  This last weekend I went down to Tasmania to celebrate my Grandmother’s 90th birthday.  It was so amazing and really got me thinking about legacy.

Here is this wonderful woman surrounded by hers: 4 children, 13 grandchildren, 11 great granchildren and another on the way next May.  As I was driving home from the airport I was chatting to my sister Kath, and Greg and commenting on how every single one of them is a pleasure to hang out with.  You know how in most families there’s at least one or two you try to avoid?  Well put the Pollards together and you have an instant party! (As the photos on Facebook show!).  Gran’s legacy really has been to set in motion a group of people who are gifted at leaving others a little happier that when they found them.  I’m sure that’s a Pollard thing!

So your legacy may be your family,or your business, or the impact you make in your community.  But with 2011 just around the corner it’s worth giving some thought on what you want to be known and celebrated for!

We also had an early Christmas with Mum and Roger as we won’t be in Tassie for Chrissie this year.  It’s an exciting one as my sister is pregnant with her first baby.  So next year there’ll be the pitter patter of little feet!

Wishing you all the very best for a joy and laughter-filled Christmas, and an exciting start to 2011.

From all of us at Shift we thank you so much for your support, and look forward to continuing to share your journey in the New Year.

May all your dreams come true!

Greetings from Bermuda!

Greetings from Bermuda!  The great news is we didn’t get lost in the triangle and the even better news is we’ve been having an amazing time with our mastermind group.

You know the old saying, your network is your networth, well it’s never more potent when you’re part of a double platinum mastermind group with the truly magical Ted Nicholas.  Just one 5 minute conversation with Ted is worth more money than I ever have or ever could pay him.  The value of belonging to this group of extraordinary people is priceless.

Who are you surrounding yourself with this week?  Are they people who lift your game to the next level? Do they contribute to the most expansive version of yourself you could be?  If not, go grab yourself a mentor or find yourself a mastermind group.  The value you will get from it is immeasurable.

Next week our travels change shape as we jump onboard the cruise at New York. We have an even more exciting cruise after the old cruise ship caught fire! So instead of the Mexican Riviera it’s now New York to the Bahamas . . . and this means we have the opportunity to hang out with some of you very special people and continue our networking and continue our growth . . . . hopefully with a cocktail in hand.

Bridal Delights!

Wow, what an amazing week!  Events include; another dress fitting, bridesmaids dresses, bridal registry, babysitting and of course our wonderful engagement party!  I promise I did do some work… at some time… I think?!

Now I have to say I have discovered the perfect way to do your bridal registry shopping – with a glass of champagne!  Thankfully the department store has just put in a brand new champagne bar for just such moments… how divine!
It will be really lovely to be a married couple with all our gifts that everytime we look or use one, we will think of the lovely family and friends that shared our special day with us.

I want to thank everyone who came to our engagement party in the Fitzroy Gardens (and especially those who travelled interstate – a lovely surprise!).  I was totally impressed with Melbourne turning the weather on and couldn’t have asked for more of a perfect day.  Our Shift Family is very important to us as you have all been with us on our special journey, so it was just magic to share the afternoon with you all.  Check out some of the photos.

It’s also not long now before Greg and I are off to Bermuda to hang out with our mentor, Ted Nicholas, and plan 2011.  This year has been about us travelling and experiencing lots of different places and cultures and 2011 is about having a base close to our family and friends.  This will be a new experience for us and we know it will be a very exciting time in our business also.

So… next week I’ll be coming to your from the shores of Bermuda.  If you don’t hear from me, it’s that blasted Triangle at work!
