Mums on Tour Part 2- Of Pubs and Chippies!
Hi!
What an extraordinary week! Greg and I were commenting a couple of day ago how we feel we’ve had a proper holiday. I guess that’s what you get when you throw two mums and two kids in a car and tour around England. It’s been so fun and I feel like I’ve learned SO MUCH. English history is so interesting. Greg and I nearly have the lineage of the monarchy sorted. Although for the life of us we can’t figure out why Victoria, the daughter of the 4th son in line to the throne became Queen- were there really no male heirs before her? What happened to the Y chromosomes in that generation?!
What’s more- I think I have eaten chips in every pub outside London and my expert opinion tells me there is great variety in the quality of the humble chip! (Hopefully my waistline does not reflect that!)
This last week with “MUMS ON TOUR 09″ we’ve been to: Devon- where we visited my old stomping ground, site of my first job in England 14 years ago, Lynmouth; Bath; the Cotswolds; Stratford-upon-Avon (for those of you who know how much of a Shakespeare fan I am, you’ll understand how cool that was); Oxford and Henley!

The Mums are worn out and had a day off with some shopping today while I sat here in Starbucks and wrote this blog post for you.
Other exciting things this week- this Saturday is our first “Presentation Secrets” event in London. It’s all sold out. But we still have a few tickets left for next weekend… Everyone who’s attending can sleep rest assured that they will be getting a well holidayed, very focussed Joey this weekend!
And finally last Wednesday I was grateful to have the opportunity to speak at the London “Yes group” which was loads of fun. Make sure you check out the Speaker training blog: www.shiftspeakertraining.com/blog and subscribe to my youtube channel: www.youtube.com/drjoannamartin for more in detail public speaking training.
Cheers,
Joey
“Mum’s on Tour” in the UK, 2009!
Hi!
Well the “Mums On Tour 09″ has kicked off with a bang! In case you don’t know- Greg and I are enjoying the company of both of our Mums- Heather and Claire over here in London. We’re blessed in that we have created a business that allows us to take some time to do fun stuff like gallivant around the English countryside with them.
This last week we have been on the London Eye, gone to the Tower of London, up to Cambridge, York and the Lakes District! Phew! It has been so much fun, and I’m immensely grateful to the awesome team who keep things ticking along while we play!
Here’s some highlights!

My Mum has an overwhelming fear of heights, and an almost as overwhelming desire not to be a chicken- and I was so proud of her this week when she opted to join us on the trip on the London eye. She was so worried she was going to panic, and while she did have a couple of moments of sucking the air in through gritted teeth, she did it! This inspired me so much as I know that so many people let their fears get in the way of them having a good time and making their business successful. So my Article this week is about how everything I learned about overcoming fear I learned from my Mum on the london Eye!
Meanwhile our first Presentation Secrets 1 Day events in London are rapidly filling up. The first event is sold out already- which of course I am wrapped about! Friday the 16th is around 60% full and Saturday the 17th is filling very fast – s make sure to grab tour seats. As I mentioned last week, people are flying in from all over Europe and even the USA for these 1 day events- so don’t miss em!
Cheers,

Speaker Training Armand Morin Style

Armand Morin
We’re at LAX right now, and I just experienced my first earthquake. 5.0 on the Richter. I was in the toilet and the water was splashing around all over the place! Mmm!!
Anyway- back to the point!….
As many of you know- I am a constant and never-ending student. One of my colleagues, Armand Morin, who many of you may know as an Internet Marketing Super-hero, ran his speaker training “Persuasion X” public speaking training in Los Angeles this weekend.
Greg and I made a last minute decision to skip over the Pacific and check it out, and we have had a great couple of days.
I think no matter how much you know about public speaking, or any topic for that matter, there’s always something more you can add to the mix huh?! The highlight of the weekend was an unexpected visit to the event by the lovely Les Brown. Wow! What a gentle, beautiful man. He was truly unbelievable.
The three days at the event have confirmed my belief that when it comes to closing sales from stage, and public speaking in general, that it doesn’t matter what your style is… As long as you:
1. Are confident in your system
2. Hit the 7 key phases of your presentation
3. Practice, practice, practice
…then it doesnt matter if you have word on your powerpoint or images, or dont even use powerpoint. It doesn’t matter if you teach heaps, or load up the entertainment factor. There are rooms for all types- as long as you are memorable FOR SOME REASON!
So keys to take away from this message:
- Know your content
- Have a good system
- Just get you there practice!

Our Internet Secrets
I met with a good friend of mine yesterday- Darren Stephens. Many of you might know him for his incredible marketing work making Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus the success that it is. Did you know that book was the second biggest selling book in the 90s after only the Bible!? Wowsers!
Anyway, we’re launching our book soon- “Our Internet Secrets” where myself and my friends have got together to share our different areas of expertise in internet business, and Darren showed me the book cover! I’m so excited. Check it out!
What’s more, Greg and I are heading up the Gold Coast on Monday to meet up with the “Our Internet Secrets” Faculty to brainstorm and grow our own businesses- and come up with new and exciting propositions for our clients.
If getting your own book together is one of the things on your to do list- I am interviewing Darren Stephens for the “Secrets of Selling From Stage” Mentoring Members this Wednesday at 7:30 pm Australian EST. I will be in LA however, and I’ve just realised it will be 2:30am for me. Ouch! If you’re not yet a member and want to learn the secrets behind making big money as a speaker go to www.secretsofsellingfromstage.com and get yourself registered before Wednesday. Then you can join us for this exclusive interview with the smartest book marketing mind on the planet.

Back in Tassie again!
Hi friends!
This week Greg and I are down in Tasmania staying with my Mum and Step-father at Lewisham. The view from where I’m typing this today is absolutely spectacular- out over the water and looking back towards Mt Wellington. The sun is streaming in the window and earlier today I enjoyed just lying down on the grass and doing the crossword in the local paper. Mum will be distraught when she gets home and sees that I’ve finished it- we usually do it together. By the way does anyone know a six letter word for pig-like animals starting with T?
We had our Presentation Profits Intensive event in Melbourne a couple of weekends ago and boy- we haven’t stopped since. It was a raving success! Everyone had a great time and walked out with their presentations ready to go, it was phenomenal.
Check out our awesome staff and crew from the event in the picture below. They all worked really hard to make the event the success that it was. Thanks guys!

I’m looking forward to a relaxing Easter this weekend here in Tassie with Greg and my family.
I wish you all a very safe and happy Easter break.
Love,
Joey xx
