How To Overcome Stress

Overcoming stress or overwhelm in your business can be one of the hardest emotional and physical challenges you face.  Here in the first part of a two part series on overcoming stress, I present one awesome tool for you to use.

Before we get onto that, let’s be honest here.

You might not even know you are experiencing stress or overwhelm.  Take a moment and look at the feelings or statements and ask yourself if any of these sound familiar to you?

“I’m overwhelmed, torn and frustrated”

“My business is time consuming and tiring”

“I’m spreading myself too thin”

“I’m exhausted”

“I have to force myself to take action”

“I can’t make a decent living”

“I’ve got lack of structure”

“I’ve got a lack of clarity”

“I’m pulled in so many different directions, there’s distractions everywhere”

If you said yes to any of the above then read on!

Overcoming Overwhelm – Are You In Flow?

If any of the above statements rang true for you then take note.  These are the words that come from someone who is out of flow.

When I say flow – I mean what Carl Jung called synchronicity, the collective unconscious.  When we are in flow, i.e, doing what we love to do and it comes so easily to us it doesn’t even feel like work, then we somehow attract positive coincidences, experiences, situations, opportunities.

When we are out of flow – we experience stress and overwhelm.

So, this is why you need to get back in flow.

How To Overcome Stress – The Habit Of Connection

To overcome your feeling of overwhelm and stress, I want to suggest one lifestyle tool you can use everyday to start creating connection.  I call this your connection habit.

The habit of connection is about reconnecting to your soul, to the collective unconscious, the universe, what God wants for you, for your soul – that’s what you need to reconnect to.

Because when you have your connection, you’ll be creating synchronicity, you’ll be tapping into that collective unconscious, you’ll be creating flow. Magic will happen to you, but it will be no accident and that’s where your ultimate lifestyle business comes from.

So, the secret to overcoming overwhelm and getting back into our sense of flow, the secret is maintaining connection regularly. We’ve got to have a habit of connection and if you want to create your ultimate lifestyle or you just want to eradicate stress or overwhelm then you must create a connection habit.

That means it’s not something that happens once, it’s not something that happens twice. It’s something that happens everyday. You stay connected and every single day, you need to make sure that you do that.

And so what we need to do is to create that habit connection?

We’ll look at that in Part Two.

Ahh, Home Sweet Home…

This week has been about nesting, wedding preparations and launching one of my coolest products – the new Blueprint in Action Program.

It’s been over a week now since Greg and I moved into our new home and we’ve been busy unpacking and discovering new treasures I’d forgotten all about.  I’m also discovering how much our taste in furniture has changed over the last 2 years! We have a lot of furniture shopping to do I think.

Where we are living I am walking distance to the Botanical Gardens, the beach and the cafe strip . . .  how perfect.  Needless to say ‘Bridal Bootcamp’ has commenced every morning with runs on the beach and pushups in the park!

Last weekend we got the dress underway, so this weekend it’s all about the bridesmaids!

And in amongst all of this we’ve been preparing for our “Special Wedding Dress Fund Offer” on the Blueprint in Action Program. First 27 get $250 off . . .  see Jo Recommends below.

As usual the newsletter is jam-packed full of tips to fast-track your speaking success, expand your comfort zone and put you on the platforms of the world.

Designer Wedding Dresses and Long Forgotten Kitchen Tools

This past week has been one of the most symbolic in my life.  Have you ever had weeks like that?  Where loads of BIG events seem to pile up on top of each other?

First, myself and Greg finally picked up the keys to a new home!  Yay!  And second . . . close your eyes Greg and no peeking  . . .  I found a brilliant dress designer here in Melbourne who can have my dress designed and made by Christmas!!!  Wooohooooooo! The date is all set for the 15th January which means only a few short weeks left of being a single woman.  Gulp!

Moving house is huge for us because we’re just a little bit tired of living out of a suitcase . . . so we are delighted to be moving into a great place near the sea and the botanical gardens in Williamstown in Melbourne.  I have to look up Jennie Armato, I think we might nearly be neighbours!

Our goal is homes in Oz and the UK so that we can unpack in both the northern and southern hemispheres! Because to be honest, for both Greg and I a life without travel would be a bit two dimensional.  I really want my kids to be global citizens.  (Yes, everyone keeps telling me that its harder to travel with kids… I know… But allow me my delusion for a little longer!)

So with that, I’ll head back into the kitchen where I am rediscovering all the lovely things I had forgotten about since they were packed into storage 2 and a bit years ago!

I’m back!

It’s great to be back from my hols!  Thanks so much for my wonderful team for keeping things going whilst we were away.  I have to confess – I didn’t even have to check the occasional email!  Yay.

This was the longest holiday we’ve had since we started the business so it was just lovely to chill out and enjoy ourselves.  The highlight was sailing in the Aegean and also sea kayaking through the caves off the coast off Phuket.  AMAZING!

Lauren and Michael’s wedding was great.  See all the gorgeous piccies.  There’s more on my Facebook page if you’re a photograph fan.

We’re back in Australia with the MDM this week. It’s our Business Transformation Week over on the Gold Coast.   They might have got drenched on the high ropes course today but we’re having tonnes of fun.

It’s great to be back!

We’re all going on a – Summer Holiday…

Well, End of Summer holiday anyway… Summertime is traditionally the time when businesses pack up and go on holiday.  But why does sometimes taking something as simple as a holiday actually cause stress?  Because it means time away from the office and all your to-do lists.  Greg and I are taking a late holiday this year to catch the end of the summer, so I thought I’d share with you 5 hot reasons why taking a holiday is the best thing you can do for yourself and your business.

  1. Creativity
I don’t know about you, but as soon as I’m sat on that plane, snapping on my seat-belt and gazing out the window, my mind is already starting to relax.  I can allow myself to daydream in a way that my busy day to day life never allows.  When the mind is relaxed then the door of creativity opens and in bursts all those juicy ideas.  It’s within this creative mind that all the best, most profitable business ideas are.
  2. Perspective
I often liken going abroad to a pair of binoculars.  It feels like I am watching my life back home through a different lens.  How is this important? Well it means that projects suddenly take on a new dimension, I see staff in a new light, tensions and struggles can be seen from a fresh angle.  Taking geographical distance often means you expand the way you look at things.

  3. Relaxation & Flow
When the body and mind unwinds, stress levels drop and this can only be a good thing.  When stress levels drop we can actually start to see the true value of our business.  Is it really measured by the hours we put in or can we measure it instead, with our own personal happiness? Does happiness really come from how much we are earning or the car we drive?  Holidays allow us to reconnect to our flow and from this flow – this love of life itself – we might get a glimpse of our truest self and our long-forgotten dreams.
  4. Connection To Source
I don’t know about you, but I find my connection to source comes from being in nature.  A beautiful forest, the edge of an ocean, a mountain valley.  Those places where I can find stillness and beauty. And it’s in these moments that I feel closest to God.  I call him God but it can be Source or the Universe – however you wish to describe that higher sense of being  – and it’s in this state of stillness that we are most receptive to new ideas and true wisdom. Which in turn we can channel back into our business and reinvigorate it.
  5. New Direction
Holidays are healthy.  They feed us up body and soul and gently plop us back down into the workplace renewed with new purpose.  It may be that the holiday opens up a new career path or detours you from the one you are currently on.  It may that be that you met someone on holiday that is going to be a great friend or a fabulous business contact.  It may be you found you again.  Holidays take you from the rut of where you are headed and gently open your eyes to new horizons.

So have a think about the kind of holiday you want this year if you haven’t already had one and what you want to get out of it.  Get yourself onto the internet and book yourself some time out before those winter evenings start coming in…  Not only will you benefit, but your business will too.
